Q: What does Examity® do?
Examity® is a 24/7 remote test proctoring service. We enable test-takers to complete their tests from the comfort of their own homes at any time they want.
Q: How does Examity’s ® remote proctoring service work?
Examity’s proctors monitor test-takers through the use of a webcam and microphone. Proctors monitor students via webcam, and ensure they don’t cheat.
Q: How can you tell if a student is cheating by watching them through a webcam?
In addition to being able to view the test-takers’ face, proctors are able to see what the student is looking at. For example, if a student does an internet search or opens a document during the exam, the proctor will be able to see it.
Students must also show their workspace and environment to the proctor before they begin the test. Since Examity® is fully customizable, professors can specify what materials, if any, students may use during each test—for example, scrap paper, a calculator, or a formula sheet. The proctor will require the student to remove any unauthorized materials before allowing the student to begin the exam.
Examity® proctors are all trained to identify suspicious behavior. They are able to identify eye movements and behavior patterns that indicate that a student may be cheating.
Q: What if something goes wrong during my test?
Examity® offers technical support all day, every day. If something goes wrong either before or during an exam, students can connect with our support team by email, by phone or by live chat.
Q: I have been hearing a lot about remote proctoring recently. Why is it so important?
Remote proctoring has become an increasingly important topic recently, as more and more educational programs incorporate online components into their curricula.
Examity® plays an important role to ensure that online learning opportunities maintain integrity. By providing proctoring services that mimic the rigorous proctoring standards of a test center or other in person test experience, Examity® helps institutions maintain their accreditation and reputations.
